Dabur Jeevandhara Revives Batabari Pond in Tezpur

Press release

Strengthens Water Security for 1,300+ Rural Residents

Batabari, Sonitpur, 11th April 2026:

In a significant step towards strengthening water security and climate resilience in rural Assam, a community water conservation project was inaugurated on Saturday at Batabari village under Ghoramari Gram Panchayat in the Balipara Block of Sonitpur district. The initiative has been implemented under Dabur Jeevandhara, Dabur India Ltd.’s flagship water stewardship CSR programme, as part of the company’s ongoing commitment to sustainable development and community well-being.

The project was formally inaugurated by Sonitpur District Commissioner Mr. Ananda Kumar Das, in the presence of company officials, village representatives and members of the local community.

Speaking on the occasion, Dabur India Limited Tezpur Unit HR Head Mr. Surendra Yadav underscored the company’s continued engagement with communities in its operational areas. He also reiterated Dabur's long-term focus on environmental sustainability and community-led development, and said that water conservation remains a core pillar of Dabur’s CSR strategy, especially in water-stressed and climate-vulnerable regions.

The intervention focused on the scientific rejuvenation and deepening of an existing pond to significantly enhance water storage capacity and ensure year-round water availability for the community. The rejuvenated water body is expected to benefit 1,364 residents of Batabari and neighbouring villages by improving access to irrigation, supporting livestock and fisheries, reducing dependence on distant water sources and enhancing the community’s resilience to increasing climate variability.

Addressing the gathering, District Commissioner Ananda Kumar Das appreciated the initiative and highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts between the district administration, corporate organisations and local communities to address emerging water and climate challenges in rural areas.
