Home Remedies for Mosquito Bites

  1. Ice:

    The quickest relief from a mosquito bite is to apply an ice pack or ice wrapped in a towel on the area bitten by a mosquito. The ice will help control the itchiness and reduce the swelling.

  2. Aloe Vera:

    Best remedy for mosquito bites is to apply Aloe Vera on the affected area. It provides relief from any type of mosquito bite or skin irritation. It eases the itchiness and swelling by forming a protective layer. The properties of Aloe Vera are that it is soothing, anti-bacterial, and anti-inflammatory. You can also use Odomos natural mosquito repellent cream or mosquito repellent gel which contains Aloe Vera extracts.

  3. Honey:

    Honey is an excellent mosquito bite remedy. Simply, apply a small amount of honey directly to the bitten area. Honey contains anti-microbial properties that can help prevent infection.

    Another best way to treat mosquito bites is to mix baking soda with water and make a thick paste out of it. Then apply this paste profusely to the affected area. This will help itching and swelling decrease immediately.

  6. Lemon:

    Applying lemon juice or lemon on the bitten area helps reduce itchiness but this remedy can only work if you have not already scratched the bitten area. If you apply citrus juice to open cuts, it will sting. Also, apply the lemon juice if you are going to stay indoors. Stepping out immediately after applying lemon juice on mosquito bite can cause severe sunburns.

  7. Turmeric:

    Turmeric is the best remedy for mosquito bites. It is a natural healing agent, containing anti-inflammatory and antioxidant agents and is used to treat variety of ailments. The presence of curcumin in turmeric is what makes it beneficial in so many ways. It helps in soothing the itching. The strong aroma of turmeric also acts as a mosquito repellent.

  8. Coconut oil:

    Coconut oil is considered as one of the best natural remedies for mosquito bites. It contains outstanding anti-inflammatory properties which helps soothe the inflammation caused by mosquito bite. It is also a great anti-microbial agent that helps prevent the spread of infection. Coconut oil works as an effective insect repellant.

  9. Minced onion or garlic:

    Ever tried onion or garlic for mosquito itch relief? Apart from putting flavor in your food, onion can also relieve irritation caused by a mosquito bite. Place a slice of onion on the affected area until the itching reduces. Ensure to wash the area where onion was applied thoroughly afterwards.
