A large-scale, multi-centric clinical study was conducted on healthy subjects to evaluate the beneficial role of Dabur Chyawanprash as a preventive remedy for COVID-19 infection.

The study was planned across 5 different Ayurveda institutions for 90 days. While there was one institution each at Jaipur, Mumbai, and Pune, 2 of the institutions were in Vadodra.

Key Findings of Dabur Chyawanprash Clinical study on Covid-19

**This study was conducted following applicable GCP guidelines, was approved by institutional ethics committees at all the study sites and was registered with Clinical Trials Registry of India which is a portal of ICMR. Informed consent was taken from all the participants before the commencement of this study.

A total of 721 healthy subjects were enrolled in this study and 696 subjects completed the study. Out of those 696 subjects, 351 belonged to the Chyawanprash group and 345 belonged to the control group not taking Chyawanprash.

The results of the study revealed that the regular consumption of Dabur Chyawanprash reduced the risk of COVID-19 infection by up to 12 times among the tested in comparison to the control group who did not consume Dabur Chyawanprash. It was also observed that those who consumed Dabur Chyawanprash regularly experienced up to 6 times lesser severity of symptoms of COVID 19 infections as compared to subjects in the control group who did not consume Dabur Chyawnaprash. The severity of COVID-19 was assessed as per ordinal scale published by the World Health Organization for COVID-19.

The overall quality of life was improved 2 times with regular use of Dabur Chyawanprash as compared to control group. This parameter was assessed through a validated questionnaire called Q-LES-Q-SF.

This clinical study was one of the earliest studies conducted on any Ayurvedic product in India as a part of preventive remedy for COVID-19 infection. During the entire duration of the study, all Government (central and state) and local authority guidelines were followed. Subjects were asked to follow all COVID-19 preventive measures like hand hygiene, wearing masks, social distancing etc. as issued by the Government and health authorities from time to time.
