A moderate sized tree with aromatic leaves and bark found growing wild in tropical and subtropical Himalayas and north-eastern Himalayas.

Cinnamomum Tamala Medicinal Uses

Cassia cinnamon leaves are frequently used for garnishing foods in India and various other countries. Extract of leaves shows a moderate degree of local antiseptic activity as recommended by Indian Ayurveda.

Chemical Composition

The leaves yield an essential oil, which contains eugenol and phellandrene. The essential oil from the bark contains aldehyde.
