Either decoction or water extract is made from the crude drug to which, Jaggery and certain astringents such as Dhatakipushp, Babbul etc. are mixed for a certain period. In this condition fermentation takes place and these original drugs undergo chemical changes and develop into a preparation called Asava - Arishta.
