Schools Programme
At Dabur we appreciate the devastating impact of ecological degradation, caused largely
due to unsustainable modern lifestyles. And we know that the best way to turn back the
tides is to build awareness amongst young minds that are still open to knowledge. With
this in mind Dabur launched a programme in 2001 to increase awareness about plants in
schoolchildren.
The programme started by organising awareness camps in various schools. Children were
initiated into the world of plants and trees through colourful flip charts and storybooks.
They were also involved in creative exercises like poster competitions that helped
generate a lot of excitement.
In the next phase, the programme built up a team of children who would plant trees with
medicinal properties. Named P.L.A.N.T. - Protect Life And Nature Team, this team
has helped gather momentum for eco-regeneration activities and encourage more and more
children to join in the movement. The programme was initially launched in Delhi and so far
more than 75,000 schoolchildren have already become members of this team.
